Nervous System Regulation Masterclass: Reach Trauma Clients Who Freeze, Dissociate & Shut Down in Session

What Talk Therapy Cannot Reach & What You Will Walk Away With After Six Hours With Lisa Ferentz

MODULE 1

Why the Nervous System Shuts Down Before Talk Therapy Can Begin

The survival responses driving freeze and shutdown — and why they activate before the client can choose otherwise.

MODULE 2

When a Client's Eyes Go Flat and Your Words Stop Landing

How to read hyperarousal and hypoarousal in the body before you choose a single intervention.

MODULE 3

Why Processing Trauma Too Soon Makes Everything Worse

The clinical mechanism behind retraumatization — and the signs your session has crossed from therapeutic into harmful.

MODULE 4

The Client Who Nods and Says They Are Fine While Still Completely Gone

How to interrupt dissociation before the session ends with the client still shut down.

MODULE 5

Why Clients Pull Away From Body-Based Work the Moment You Introduce It

What resistance signals in a dysregulated nervous system — and how to introduce resourcing without triggering deeper shutdown.

MODULE 6

Six Body-Based Techniques for When Talk Therapy Has Already Failed

The exact techniques that reach a frozen nervous system after grounding language has already stopped working.

LEARN FROM THE CLINICIAN WHO HAS SPENT 35 YEARS IN THE ROOM WITH THE MOST TRAUMATIZED CLIENTS

Lisa Ferentz, LCSW-C, DAPA

Lisa Ferentz has been in private practice for over 35 years, and in that time, she has built her entire clinical identity around one conviction: trauma symptoms are not pathology. They are the way a person survives. That distinction changes everything about how she sits with a frozen, dissociative, or shutdown client, and it is the foundation of every somatic intervention she teaches on May 26th.

She is the founder of The Ferentz Institute, now in its eighteenth year of providing continuing education to mental health professionals, and has graduated several thousand clinicians from her two Certificate Programs in Advanced Trauma Treatment. Her work as a clinical consultant spans agencies across the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Poland, and Spain. Janina Fisher and Dick Schwartz, developers of Internal Family Systems therapy, have both publicly praised her training. What she brings to May 26th is not a theory of somatic intervention; it is 35 years of body-based clinical work refined into a framework you can use the next time a client goes flat mid-session.

What Changes When You Stop Hitting the Talk Therapy Ceiling

WITH THIS MASTERCLASS:

  • Talk therapy hitting its ceiling is no longer the moment your session ends without reaching them

  • You know exactly what to do when words stop working and the nervous system takes over

  • You can tell hyperarousal from hypoarousal before talk therapy makes the shutdown worse

  • The clients talk therapy could not move finally have a clinician who can reach their nervous system

WITHOUT THIS MASTERCLASS:

  • A client goes flat mid-session and talk therapy is still the only tool you reach for

  • The trauma lives below the level talk therapy can touch and nothing in the session reaches it

  • Every freeze response ends the same way: talk therapy stops working, session closes, trauma stays

  • Your most traumatized clients keep coming back to talk therapy every week and never move

Can I get the recording if I cannot attend live?

Yes. The recording gives you everything Lisa covers — every nervous system regulation framework, every body-based technique, every intervention for freeze and dissociation — permanently available on your own schedule.

Do I receive CEs just for attending live?

No. CEs are available for purchase after registration. Attending live is free. The $67 CE upgrade gives you 9 board-approved CEs plus lifetime recording access.

I already use talk therapy with trauma clients. Why do I need this?

Talk therapy is effective — until the moment a client's nervous system moves into freeze or hypoarousal. At that point the part of the brain that processes language and insight is no longer fully online. This Masterclass gives you the clinical framework for exactly that moment — not as a replacement for talk therapy, but as the essential next layer when it stops reaching the client.

I already use some body-based techniques. Will this cover anything new?

If you already know how to read hyperarousal and hypoarousal in real time, interrupt a dissociative response before it ends the session, and apply breathwork and safe self-touch to a nervous system in freeze — this may cover familiar ground. If there has ever been a session where a client went flat and you were not certain which state you were sitting with or what to reach for first, this training was built for that exact moment.

I primarily work with anxiety and depression. Is this relevant?

Freeze, shutdown, and dissociation appear in clients who have never been formally diagnosed with PTSD. Any client carrying a trauma history will move outside their window of tolerance in session. This Masterclass gives you the clinical framework for those moments regardless of the primary diagnosis.

I have attended body-based trainings before and found them too abstract. How is this different?

Lisa Ferentz has spent 35 years in the room with the most traumatized, dissociative, and freeze-prone clients in existence. Every technique she teaches comes directly from that clinical experience. You leave with a protocol for the specific moment — not a philosophy.

What if I can only attend part of the live training?

Attend whatever portion you can. CE buyers have lifetime recording access so anything you miss live is permanently available whenever a case demands it.
