Misdiagnosed ADHD & Autism Masterclass: Differential Diagnosis & Neuro-Affirming Interventions

What You Will Learn Across Six Hours With Kelly Pickens, ADHD-CCSP

MODULE 1

Why ADHD and Autism Keep Getting Misread as Something Else Entirely

Learn exactly how masking, late diagnosis, and overlapping presentations cause ADHD and autism to look like anxiety, depression, and personality disorders — and why standard clinical training was never built to catch this.

MODULE 2

How to Tell ADHD and Autism Apart When They Look Identical in the Room

The clinical decision-making framework for differentiating ADHD from autism across cognitive, sensory, relational, and functional domains — so you stop guessing and start identifying with confidence.

MODULE 3

The AuDHD Profile: What the Co-Occurring Presentation Actually Looks Like

When ADHD and autism occur together they do not simply add up. They create an entirely distinct clinical picture that most differential diagnosis frameworks were not built to identify — and this module gives you the tools to catch it.

MODULE 4

How to Identify ADHD and Autism in High-Masking, Late-Diagnosed, and Female Clients

The standard diagnostic criteria were built around hyperactive eight-year-old boys. This module covers how ADHD and autism actually present in the clients who have spent decades learning to hide it — and how to assess them accurately.

MODULE 5

Autistic Burnout vs. Treatment-Resistant Depression: What the Difference Actually Costs Your Client

These are the two most commonly confused presentations in neurodivergent adults. This module gives you the specific clinical indicators that distinguish autistic burnout from depression — and the intervention each one actually requires.

MODULE 6

Neuro-Affirming Treatment Planning: Building a Care Plan That Works With the Brain in Front of You

Person-centered, trauma-informed, and immediately applicable. This module covers how to build a treatment plan that works with your client's neurotype — not against it — from the first session forward.

LEARN DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS AND NEURO-AFFIRMING INTERVENTIONS FROM A CLINICIAN WHO HAS LIVED THE MISDIAGNOSIS FROM THE INSIDE

Kelly Pickens, APNP, FNP-BC, ADC-C, ADHD-CCSP

Kelly Pickens did not come to this work through a textbook. She came to it at 48 years old, sitting in a CE course on adult ADHD, realizing for the first time that every slide was describing her. Two years later, she identified as autistic. She had spent decades in therapy, on antidepressants, and in clinical practice — never once accurately identified. That experience did not become a story she tells for effect. It became the clinical lens she teaches from.

With over 20 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner and two ADHD certifications — ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider and Certified Attention Deficit Consultant — Kelly founded Undivided Attention, a specialized practice built entirely around ADHD and autism assessment and treatment in adults. What she brings to April 30th is not an overview of neurodivergence. It is the specific differential diagnosis framework, masking indicators, and neuro-affirming intervention tools she uses every week with clients who spent years being treated for anxiety and depression they never had.

What Changes When You Finally See ADHD and Autism Clearly

WITH THIS MASTERCLASS:

  • You know exactly whether your client has ADHD, autism, or both, without second-guessing yourself

  • The AuDHD client who never fit any single diagnosis finally has a clinician who can read them accurately

  • You stop treating the mask and start treating the neurotype underneath it

  • High-masking and late-diagnosed clients finally get an assessment built for their actual brain

  • Every treatment plan you build is grounded in the right neurotype, not the most convenient diagnosis

WITHOUT THIS MASTERCLASS:

  • Your most complex neurodivergent clients keep failing treatment and you keep running out of rationale

  • The client who masks every session stays invisible, because nothing in your training was built to see through it

  • You refer out your AuDHD clients because you cannot tell ADHD from autism from burnout

  • Late-diagnosed adults accumulate another year of wrong treatment while the window keeps closing

  • The co-occurring presentation that walked into your office walks back out unidentified, again

Frequently Asked Questions

How many CEs do I receive, and what does it cost?

Registration is free. The CE upgrade is $77 before the webinar and includes 9 board-approved CEs.

Are the CEs board-approved?

Yes. All 9 CEs are board-approved and count toward license renewal for LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs across most states. To view all approvals, check the “View Approvals” button at the end of this page.

What is included in the CE upgrade?

The CE upgrade includes 9 board-approved CEs, lifetime recording access to the full Masterclass, and the bonus course on mindfulness-based suicide prevention.

Can I get the recording if I cannot attend live?

Yes. Recording access is available with the CE upgrade. You can watch the full six hours on your own schedule and return to any section whenever a case requires it.

Do I receive CEs just for attending live?

CEs require the upgrade. Attending live gives you access to the full training at no cost. The CE upgrade is what processes your continuing education credit + gets you full recorded access.

What licenses qualify for these CEs?

These CEs are applicable for LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, LMHCs, and psychologists. If you are unsure whether they apply to your license, check the “View Approvals” button at the end of this page.

I already recommend mindfulness to clients. Is this going to tell me anything I do not already know?

Recommending mindfulness and using it as a live clinical intervention are two different skill sets. This Masterclass teaches the specific in-session protocols for the moment a client dysregulates, which most mindfulness trainings never cover.

I primarily work with adults. Is this relevant to my practice?

Yes. The nervous system dysregulation, emotional reactivity, and survival patterns Dr. South addresses are present across every adult population. The frameworks apply directly to any client who triggers, shuts down, or goes unreachable mid-session.

I have attended CE trainings before and could never apply them in session. How is this different?

Dr. South teaches step-by-step in-session protocols, not theory. Every intervention is built for the live clinical moment, not for after the session ends.

I already work with ADHD clients. Is this going to tell me anything I do not already know?

This training is intermediate to advanced level. It covers differential diagnosis, high-masking presentations, the AuDHD co-occurring profile, and autistic burnout — clinical territory most standard ADHD training does not reach.

I primarily work with anxiety and depression. Is this relevant to my practice?

Describe the item or answer the question so that site visitors who are interested get more information. You can emphasize this text with bullets, italics or bold, and add links.

What if I can only attend part of the live training?

Attend whatever portion you can. The CE upgrade includes lifetime recording access so you can watch the full six hours at your own pace.
